Can I stay at home and get care paid for?
Yes. There is a program called the MI Choice Waiver Program where Medicaid will pay for home care for you. You must meet the same care needs and asset limit as you would in a nursing home; and you cannot have more than $2,050 income per month. Your spouse's income is not counted.
Care workers will come out to your home to provide care for up to 56 hours per week. As you must need 24 hour a day care to get in the Program, there has to be someone else available to care for you for the remainder of the time. Medicaid will also pay for you medical needs such as prescriptions, equipment, etc.
